BTML Wrestling GOALS and GUIDELINES

BTML was established in 2000 in order to introduce and help increase the amount of participation in the sport of wrestling within Mt. Lakes and Boonton Township. BTML is open to all children in grades 1st-8th who reside in Mt. Lakes or Boonton Township. BTML Inc. is a non-profit organization.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

BTML is a member of both the North Jersey League and King of Mat League. Our practices are on Monday's, Thursday's and Saturday's. North Jersey League matches are on Thursday nights, but are subject to change on occasion. King of Mat matches are geared toward novice wrestlers in grades K-5th, and are usually held on weekday nights.

WRESTLER'S GUIDELINES

All of our wrestlers must adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Wrestlers are expected to be at practice, ready to go, at least 5-10 minutes prior to the start of practice.
  2. Wrestlers will wear shorts/sweats, tee shirt/sweat shirt, kneepads, wrestling shoes and headgear to every practice. Jewelry, watches and cut-offs are prohibited.
  3. Wrestlers must not fool around or engage in any type of non-supervised wrestling activity that may cause injury to another wrestler before, after or during practice.
  4. Wrestlers must pay attention at all times.
  5. Wrestlers must attend all practices unless otherwise excused. Anyone missing practices or meets (unexcused) will not wrestle in the upcoming meet.
  6. Every wrestler is expected to make the weight they have wrestled off for. Failure to make that weight will result in a forfeit for the team.
  7. Wrestlers must wear a singlet and team warm-up for every match or tournament.

PARENT GUIDELINES

  1. Have your child at practice, ready to go, about 5-10 minutes prior to the start of practice.
  2. If your child is unable to get to a practice, please call or email one of the coaches explaining the absence.
  3. During meets, only coaches and wrestlers can be at mat side unless otherwise indicated.
  4. During meets, only coaches and wrestlers are allowed in the locker room area.
  5. Any questions or comments are welcome, however, please wait until after the practice or meet to talk to the coaches.
  6. We need your support in terms of volunteering for mat set-up and take down, cleaning the mats prior to practice, and fund raising efforts.
  7. Any problems that occur during a meet or tourney, please notify the BTML coaches, and they will try to correct the situation by going through the proper channels.

WRESTLE-OFF GUIDELINES

  1. Coaches will have the final say on whether a wrestler may or may not wrestle off.
  2. If you miss practice or meet for an unexcused reason, you may not wrestle off for that particular week.
  3. During a wrestle-off there is absolutely no coaching by anyone, coaches or parents.
  4. All wrestle-offs are periods of 1-1.5-1.5 minutes. Overtime will be decided by the wrestler who scores the first points.
  5. Coaches have the right to substitute the lineup as they deem appropriate.
